Surgery Suite on Wheels Going Strong
Our Mobile Spay and Neuter program is our “surgery suite on wheels,” offering free spay/neuter surgeries in lower-income communities. Since we added this program in 2006, we have performed 9,509 surgeries on the mobile vehicle, aiding in the fight to reduce animal overpopulation on the Peninsula.
This is the only program of its kind in the Bay Area and enables families and pet owners with limited financial means to fix their pets, eliminating the possibility of accidental litters which become a community problem and add to Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA’s challenge of addressing companion animal overpopulation. We average 400 to 600 mobile surgeries each year and anticipate our team will perform their 10,000th mobile operation next year.
