Saving Turkey From the Side of the Road
Injured and lying helpless on the side of a busy highway, a small kitten’s fate certainly didn’t look promising. Not only was the orange and white kitten completely alone, he was also hurt and desperately needed assistance. Thankfully a Good Samaritan spotted him and brought him to our shelter for safety and care.
The kitten had no identification, and no one came forward to claim him. We knew we were the only ones that could help him. Our veterinarian team made the decision to amputate his severely injured right leg. To heal comfortably, he was placed with a foster family while he recovered from his surgery.
He thrived in his foster home and was proving to be a very sweet cat. Despite the removal of his leg, he was still able to climb and jump. Our foster family named him Turkey, and he came back to the shelter for adoption. It wasn’t long until this plucky survivor attracted a new family where he’s living his very best life.
Turkey’s family says: “He has a few favorite places to hang out, and we were pleasantly surprised to find he’s more than capable of jumping and climbing onto whatever he likes. He has many toys and a lot of kitty-friendly places to sit or hide should he want time to himself. Thank you so much for allowing us to take him in; we love him a lot!”
Because of your support, we were able to be there for Turkey, who had no one else to turn to in his time of need. Turkey is just one of the thousands of animals PHS/SPCA has rescued this past year. While all of their stories are not so dramatic, they all owe their lives to you!
