Nacho Finds His Forever Future

Nacho was just a puppy when he was surrendered to Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA after his owners lost their pet-friendly housing. They were heartbroken to give him up but knew it was the best decision for Nacho. Initially, the Doberman Pinscher/Shepherd mix was confused and shut down. After a week of TLC from our staff and volunteers, Nacho felt more relaxed, and his gregarious personality started to shine through.

Nacho at his new homeWhile Nacho was waiting at our adoption center for a new family, he participated in our behavior classes for shelter dogs. We teach basic commands and manners. He quickly became a star student! Nacho seemed to enjoy his time at our shelter, but we knew he needed a family to grow up with. Meanwhile, a woman named Rebecca was looking for a new dog to add to her home.

A year after her two senior dogs passed away, Rebecca decided she was ready to add a pup to her family. Stepping through the doors of Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA, Rebecca locked eyes with Nacho and said, “I just knew when I saw him that he would be mine.” She immediately adopted Nacho.

“He’s a goofy, sweet, smart and loving pup. Thank you from the very bottom of both our hearts for bringing us together,” said Rebecca. “There are no words to express my gratitude to Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA for saving him. He’s made my life so much fuller, and I’m just so happy with him.”

Because of your generous support, we were able to be there for Nacho’s first owners when they could no longer care for him. And we were able to provide a safe haven for Nacho until he was adopted into a new loving home. Nacho is just one of the thousands of animals PHS/SPCA has rescued and rehomed in 2023.
